#ふくしま集団疎開裁判 ノーマ・フィールドさんメッセージ

「ふくしま集団疎開裁判」の会では、裁判に寄せるみなさんのご意見を募集しています。シカゴ大学の名誉教授、ベストセラー『天皇の逝く国で』（みすず書房1994年刊）著者のノーマ・フィールドからメッセージをいただきましたので、ご紹介します。

わたしは「ふくしま集団疎開裁判」の会のご尽力を心から支持します。

情報の伝えかた、災害の管理を観察していますと、日本政府は機能不全であり、冷笑的な態度でいます。最も許しがたいのは、避難区域を狭く限定した線引きであり、疑う余地なく経費節約を主眼としています。

災害発生から2年間で、状況はますます困難になっただけです。せめて最低限だけでも、社会は子どもたちを守るために最善を尽くさなければなりません。

判事のみなさんもまた、人道の常識を共有していただけますように。

I heartily support the efforts of the Fukushima Collective Evacuation Trial.

If we look at how information was transmitted and the disaster managed, the Japanese government looks incompetent and cynical. Most unforgivable is its narrow definition of evacuation areas, no doubt with an eye to cost-savings.  

In the two years since the disaster, the situation has only gotten more difficult. At the very least, society must do its best to protect its children.

May the judges show that they, too, share in the common sense of humanity.
